What I meant was: Its almost the right melody, but you've got some notes wrong. If you listen to the track a couple of times you'll nail the whole melody.
It was meant as a positive reaction, but somehow it seems like you see it as "not so positive".
And yes, there is a reason to try copying your favorite music, because it gives you more insight in how tracks are made and why those tunes are good. Most good musicians start of covering known music and grow up to become a good musician themselves.

Awesome! I love this! I have an MC909 and 303, with manuals. Haven't really figured out how to use them yet. Just wanted to tinker with them. I would love to learn to play them properly!

I'd like to know what you mean by "there." Being good at covering techno licks? Covering this one in particular? Why would I "keep it up"? There is no reason to keep practicing copying other peoples sequences, so I have no idea what you mean here.
