I turned 17 in 1981. This movie changed my mind about Opera, about foreign films, about life. With the money I made at my first job, I bought the soundtrack album and drove my family crazy. If you have never seen it, see it! --especially all you kids who think the 80's were so stylistically dreadful.

One of the strangest concepts for a thriller. One of the best films ever. Great soundtrack. Go see it. And oddly a great film for a first date.

I first saw this mesmering movie immediately after it was released , I have seen it four or five times again since and it has always kept on mesmerising me as the first time . with such heaps of junk movies around , one will never regret enough that this director has not produced more .

I saw this when I was 21 and it blew me away, a foreign film with opera and yet it was amazing. So cool, so different. It remains one of my favorites

I was a teenager in the 80's and lived across the street from a small arthouse theater and saw every European classic there like Diva, Betty Blue, Subway, My Life as a Dog, Cinema Paradiso, etc.

Such an exciting movie. So much goes on in this movie, the music is marvelous. Even my husband, who hate foreign movies with subtitles, love this film.
