  • I turned 17 in 1981. This movie changed my mind about Opera, about foreign films, about life. With the money I made at my first job, I bought the soundtrack album and drove my family crazy. If you have never seen it, see it! --especially all you kids who think the 80's were so stylistically dreadful.

  • One of the strangest concepts for a thriller. One of the best films ever. Great soundtrack. Go see it. And oddly a great film for a first date.

  • the film was released in 1981, not 82.

  • Diva,The moon in the gutter, and Betty Blue, this films is something that is most beautiful ever created on movies History, from -Jean jacques Beineix

  • omg i just saw this in french class today and I admit it was great...love the music and ending!!!!

  • My favourite film of all time. It has everything, & the score is just sublime.

  • I was intrigued when I saw a review of it (by Siskel & Ebert!) and when I was 16 or 17 my local public TV station showed a dubbed version. Like many others, it changed my life. I read the book, got the soundtrack, and let it inspire me. It remains my favorite film of all time; art, and love, and the love of art, triumphing in a world of ugliness and corruption.

  • I was 10 when it was realeased - And have never been the same again after seeing the movie a aouple of years after... a further step forward came with Betty Blue , as I was aged 14, and Subway... I can see all the gimmicky nuances and slick aestetics but they have been amazing experiences at the time, and stil are fully enjoyable films...

  • One of the films that turned me on to world cinema movies. also Subway( christopher lambert / isabelle adjani) and Delicatessen. Foreign films allways seem to have more story to them than hollywood. The subtitles help me with my reading and spelling, well not so far.....

  • @SKOTP69 Totally.

  • @nauort23 This is TOTALLY 80's, and the genuine 80's was totally stylistically brilliant!
