A yant is a sacred geometrical design. These symbols are seen everywhere in South East Asia, and can protect their owners from all sorts of things.

I heard of Sak Yant AKA Yantra tattooing from a friend. It's primarily done by Buddhist monks in Cambodia and Thailand. They truly believe that these enchantments can do everything from deflecting bullets to protecting your farm from mice.

It's pretty common to see Muy Thai fighters with Yantra Tattoos on their backs. If you take a close look a many thai amulets, the designs are the same. My tattoos were done by Luang Pi Nunn.

  • i first learned about yantra tattoos when my best friend's thai biological mother was cutting my hair and talking to her daughter in thai about the tourists who don't truly believe in the spirit and energy within the yantra tattoos and later developed manic disorders. she said people who see it as a trend should get it from a monk who doesn't possess spiritual gifts as the energy in the tattoo will manifest itself into a disease as a consequence by the yants. what do you think about that?

  • @nicoatvan I've been doing my best to follow the rules. I heard an important responsibility was to continue to get the tattoos blessed on a regular basis. I'm not a huge believer in the supernatural, but do I plan to live by the rules laid out to me.

  • It must be painful, but it is a great job and result.

    Ciao Mike:)

  • @amicasuper Thank you ;)

  • That was really awesome, Buddy!

What does your tattoo protect against?

  • @Jimplicit Hey Jim! Bad Luck and Danger, so I thought it was a pretty good "Fix-all" for life's curve balls. If I ever go back I can get one that grants safety during travel, might have to get ink'd again!
