@mikeplay007 NEW Mig29s?? Mig29A have allways got IR!! but upgraded to a better IRST in mig29s version, but are u sure about thrust vector in mig29s version ??? i thought the only mig29 with thrust vectoring was the OVT version.... But u are right we have never see a fair fight against MIG29,

the MIG29 export version in Iraq that US shot down, was without radar, only IR and could only get a lock within 8km.... True!!!

Mig29 Export version is not good in BVR!!! maybe the russian version

@lassecfc New Mig29s are equiped with Infra red detection sistems, and vector trust. But even old Mig29s were good in BVR, but in all cases when MIG29 were shut down it was not one to one fight, and not even 4 to 1 fight, it was entire US, or a NATO airforce with AWACS and with all there planes were fighting aganst few MIG29s, without any ground, or AWACS support.

@mikeplay007 the mig29s is a better dogfighter, in close combat, but in a BVR Fight i´am not that sure.

Part of the United States’ motive to purchase these aircraft was to prevent them from being sold to "rogue states", especially Iran

@lassecfc It was writen in Wikipedia, but it didn't now, I hear that same frome some documentarry, the point is that MIG29 is much better than F16 and even beterr than F15 one to one. It's even writen even now in wikipedia in Mig 29 and service in Gernmany.

Russian MIG 29 would take all these planes alone, all export versions of MIG 29 is downgraded, but still in Serbia one MIG 29 was fly against 22 NATO planes, F16, toronado, F15. After calapse of USSR German MIG 29 was taking in USA for a dogfight with F16. From 50 digfights F16 was able to win ONLY 1 time. MIG29 is the best and costs 2 times more than any of these planes, and have 5-7 time more comebat effectivness.

You have that backward, Mig-29s were designed to fight the f-16 The f-16 was around for 5-7 years before the mig-29 The F-15 was designed in fear of the Mig-25
