  • What nonsense. This bloke didn't - did not ever - condemn slavery. He hated Gov Dunmore for freeing slaves.

    That's because Dunmore was arming the slaves & using them in his army, and promising them freedom. Jefferson directly opposed that, and wrote it in the D of I. Freedom was for whites. THAT'S the real Jefferson, not this nonsense. Nothing "complicated"; just a lot of apologetics.
