    You could try a buck regulator, e.g. LM2575. At 1 A output it reaches up to 90% efficiency, so maybe your RoboBrrd could flap twice as long before need to recharge and you could use a smaller heat sink.

    All I have are two 11.1V Li-Ion batteries because my parents bought them for MANOI 3 years ago. I used to have 2 LiPos, but one of them went puffy so now I just have one, and it's not enough voltage. I used a LM317 because that was what the electronics store had. Also, now that there is a large servo for the beak instead of a micro servo, the heat isn't that bad.
