I wasn't involved in the creation of this video whatsoever. However I found it very useful when I had to remove my bumper to change a blown headlight-bulb, so have decided to give it wider viewing accessibility on YouTube. I realise there is at least one other how-to about MK4 bumper removal on YouTube but this is just an extra source of useful information. Thanks to the original source / maker for this video how-to. Good work.

  • I know you may not be the creator of this video, but any idea if there is an easier way to get to the lights on the side (just before he pulls the bumper off, he mentions them) without taking off the bumper? I need to do this within the next week.

  • @03VWJetta4life Try reading this thread at VWVortex, and look at photos in the towards bottom of page. Ahh it won't allow me to post links, so GOOGLE this, and it should be the first link returned = Removing the Jetta MKIV side marker/turn signal repeater light in fender.

  • Thanks for the video... Is getting it back on just as easy? Are there any bits that have to line-up and slot back together in exactly the right way?

  • @mattsandersonphoto That's a good question.

Inside the bumper are two tracks. You want to slide the bumper back on over the fitting you can see when you've removed the bumper. I recommend 2 people, either side of the bumper. Simultaneously slide the bumper back into position. Get it lined up and slide back in. Then anchor it with a torx bolt in center, then refit the other bolts. Gets easier with practice. I've done it a few times for easy access to replace headlight bulbs. You can do it.

  • This really is a 5 minute job, as I found out after changing my cam belt and forgetting to refit the intercooler spring clip! One thing though, on mine (UK model) there were no bumper side lights as we don't have them here but there was an electrical connection to the external temperature sensor below the passenger side (UK) headlight.

  • Does anyone happen to know if the rubstrip can be taken out of the from bumper? Or if there are any clips or anything securing it into place? I'm asking because mine became cracked on a tiny part of it and I'm going to replace it myself.

I've already posted this on the 'vortex (and got no replies), so that'd be awesome if anyone knows how to pull it off

  • A great help, because if you need to change headlight bulbs you need to remove the bumper on many late model Golfs' and this shows how to do it. Then all you need to do is to release the bumper on the side the headlight needs to be removed from.

  • Excellent and clear instructions. Thank you!

  • @THASICKBOYzENT no, they're german.

  • @THASICKBOYzENT is that a serious question or no?

  • thanks for the video
