I drove further up the canyon towards Central City, and sluiced in the ice & snow across from a nice cut in the bank, where I saw others had dug material to pan and sluice for gold

  • "nothing in the quartz?" hehe You sure about that? You better check the quartz layer again. The quartz layer is where you are most likely going find bigger gold nuggets embedded in the quartz, where ever you find quartz you'll find gold. The dark layers (black layers) are iron rich layers (magnetite etc) at the ancient rivers basin where you'll most likely find finer gold which siphoned out to the river bed.

  • That is a nice flake, I've found a few about the same size myself, alays makes it nice when you find some good gold.
