Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is a science fiction novel by Philip K. Dick first published in 1968. The main plot follows Rick Deckard, a bounty hunter of androids, while the secondary plot follows John Isidore, a man of sub-normal intelligence who befriends some of the androids.
The novel is set in a post-apocalyptic near future, where the Earth and its populations have been damaged greatly by Nuclear War during World War Terminus. Most types of animals are endangered or extinct due to extreme radiation poisoning from the war. To own an animal is a sign of status, but what is emphasized more is the empathic emotions humans experience towards an animal.
Deckard, the protagonist, is faced with retiring six escaped Nexus-6 model androids, the latest and most advanced model. Because of this task, the novel explores the issue of what it is to be human. Unlike humans, the androids possess no empathic sense. By introducing organic and realistically humanoid androids in this novel, Dick asks what qualities, if any, are unique to or are able to define what is human and makes readers question their own humanity.
The book's plot served as the primary basis for the 1982 film Blade Runner.
In 2009 the novel was adapted into a graphic novel by BOOM! Studios.
Now using the the audiobook and the Vangelis OST from "Blade Runner", I'm finally able to do an adaptation of the comic book to a video, hopefully doing a film out of it.
Seems we both had the same idea on how to show the comic book version on Youtube, mine is at watch?v=iiuBr0BJpRc&hd=1
Boom! Studios is also doing some sort of prequel, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?: Dust To Dust" which I think will be a nice addition.
By the way what do you think of the dove Roy holds in the end of Blade Runner, is it artificial or real? Could it perhaps be an offer from Abdul Ben Hassan, "Buy the snake and you get a dove for free"?

@alfsal67 I've just saw your video, indeed it's rather similar to mine. As to "Dust to Dust" I already knew that but haven't had the time to read. I don't even know if it's about Deckard or not. Can you tell me anything about it? The ending of Blade Runner, that's something I never really thought about. If we think of the source material to it which was "Do Androids..." that dove must be artificial, most birds died after world war terminus if I recall correctly. So yeah, it must be artificial

@Ze0do0Gas Haven't bought Dust to dust yet, just got the fourth hardcover of the Androids comic. There is a description on it on Boom! Studios homepage.
Not Deckard but some earlier Rep Detects. Maybe a bit like the Westwwod computer game, following another also.

@alfsal67 Did you hear? We are going to have a prequel/sequel/reboot or something of Blade Runner. I don't know how to react...

@Ze0do0Gas Havent heard a word on that before. Tried to find some more info on it but couldnt yet. Only sort of movie connected I know of is Blade Runner Chronicles but that's been in working for ages now, not really sure if it will ever be finished. If a new one is planned I do hope they dont base it on K.W. Jeter's books as those arent very good.
But this is all news to me so I will have to wait for some more information before making my mind up on what to think about it.
