Dr Jazz at the Happening in Nitzan, Israel

August 23, 2009: Doctor Jazz Dixieland Band performs for former residents of Gush Katif (Gaza) expelled by the Israeli government in 2005. The former community of Neve Dekalim was relocated temporarily (4 years ago!) in Nitzan, a village of prefabricated homes located near the seacoast between Ashdod and Ashkelon.

Today's show was sponsored by JNET of Holland, who regularly sponsors us to perform for Israeli soldiers and civilians living under fire or threat of terrorism. Sponsorship allows us to present professional entertainment for people who appreciate knowing that they are not forgotten by the outside world. Our custom is to spend some of the donated money eating and drinking in local restaurants, and buying groceries, gasoline and other goods from local merchants, who also greatly appreciate the extra business.
