CHEIKH TIDIANE TALL was the organ & guitar player who worked a lot with IDY DIOP even after the SAHEL band. This was the band who changed the music in Senegal forever, the first to combine the SALSA sound with the tradi...tional one of SABAR and to create the new fashion of MBALAX.
Has been lead guitarist in the band Xalam.Xalam has been a very influential band who mixed American funk and jazz with African musical idiom

IDRISSA DIOP was born in Senegal, in Malika: the village of the angels. He learned percussion with his grandfather and formed his first band, the Rio Orchestra, when he was 12.
Idrissa Diop wrote several songs, some of which were big hits. As you will note all these names and places are latin-sounding.
He then formed the Grand Groupe du SAHEL and revolutionised Senegalese music, by mixing African percussion, pop, rock and latin music. Idrissa Diop left for Europe..
