@recklesscharlie No woman of THIS time could even think of passing over the lovely and experienced Marke/ Rufus Sewell for a teenager~?? Soon as she sees him, Tristram would be dumped! I reckon, soon as Tristram dies, she soon sees the error of her ways and they all live happily ever after, just that they couldn't put that bit in the story.

Rufus Sewell is such a fantastic actor. However I found this whole film so implausible for this reason - NO woman of that time would EVER choose a man like Tristan over a man like Marke. If they wanted to make Tristan and Isolde oh-so-passionate-love even slightly believable they should have chosen a less, ahem..magnetic and virile actor for the part of Marke! He makes Tristan seem like a whiny boy. No woman in those circumstances would choose a whiny boy over a MAN.

And Rufus Sewell a brilliant actor.

Lord Marke is a HERO.

Rufus is way too sexy. Tristan would not stand a chance in my opinion.

AWW Its so endearing that he's nervous that she won't like him!
If I was Isolde, I would have fallen in love with Marke immediately!

Marke > Tristan
It's not even a contest. He automatically wins.
