A British magazine possibly PBO did a test on prop shaft line cutters. A 10HP engine was used in a similar set up to this. Apart from rope, plastic bags, fishing line and net were also tried. The cutters that performed the best had scissor action blades, unfortunately they cost the most! The rotary knife type of cutter will cut rope if you are lucky so it is better than nothing. There are at least two brands using the scissor mechanism and these are the ones to have if the budget allows.
