The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) is working to help keep juvenile Chinook salmon and steelhead on course as they migrate to the Pacific Ocean. A prototype of a non-physical barrier that is made up of lights and bubbles to help divert salmon and keep them on the path to the sea during migration is shown in green. The barrier is turned on (green) and two fish have been tagged and tracked swimming near the barrier. The colored spheres illustrate the hydrophones listening to the tagged fish. Fish behavior is monitored in real-time using fish tagged and tracked with HTIs Model 795Lm Acoustic Tags.
