Small dogs would probably get killed but, a big dog could hold it down with its paws and sink its teeth into it's neck. A cat would claw it and make the snake more madder. Ir's true, I love my dogs as much as you love your cat.
@wendyldameron Sure, but dogs can get killed by snakes as well - isn't that just as foolish? And indeed, my cat means to me what your dogs mean to you.
@Kzinix I know that cats can't kill snakes but, a cat going up agenst a snake....hmmm. It would be awful foolish, yet brave for a cat to fight a snake and get it's self killed. I want people to know just how gentle, sweet and caring these bundles of love are. My dogs are the earth and sun to me, they protect me and love me and I do the same for them. They aren't filthy, disgusting animals, they are true hero's.
@wendyldameron Haha, no - they aren't capable of killing it, but some were brave enough to take them on. And just to be perfectly clear: I don't hate dogs. It's just that cats are the better pets for me and I'm trying to show people how great these furry little creatures really are. They can be so much more than sleepy purring balls of fluff, they can be loyal friends as well. I miss my dear cat every day, even now she still makes me smile when I think about the silly things she used to do.
@Kzinix I know right! So many stories, yet so little space in a comment. I have also raised dogs before. I volenteered at the animal shelter and cared for dogs. I made sure the stray dogs at the park were healthy. I looked after my cousins dog flash, while she was still alive. There are so many dogs on my street I always leave out water and biscuts when they are loose. My dogs are all a pet owner could ask for. And cats killing snakes, no way.
@wendyldameron Then why were all the cats I've ever looked after so happy with people's attention? I've raised some cats myself, I looked after some stray cats in Spain, I took care of the neighbours' cat when they were on vacation, my other neighbour's cat always hangs around at my place while I never feed him, I just pet him and he keeps coming back for that. Now why would they do that if they'd rather be left alone? I've heard of cats who fought snakes too, there are so many stories to tell.
@Kzinix Cats can interact but, really they would rather be alone. I heard of a cat who diddn't want anything to do with its owners. Have you heard of the recent studie that dogs may be smarter than cats? It's true. And I have some other stories of brave dogs. A dog who saved it's owners from a moose. A dog that fought away a lioness in africa. A dog that killed a cobra to protect it's owners! Now that is true bravery.
@wendyldameron But most cats do interact with their owners. My cat used to 'wash' my arms and always loved sitting on my lap. She enjoyed my attention and I enjoyed taking care of her, she was everything a pet owner could ever wish for. It's true that cats are more independent than dogs, but that doesn't mean that they never enjoy their owners' attention. There are also more stories about brave cats: a cat who saved her owner from angry pitbulls, a cat who woke her owners up because of a fire...
@Kzinix I do know some clever cats but, they never saved their owners or anything. I think of cats as independent, quiet pets that don't really interact with their owners. I think of dogs as playful, loyal, loving pets who want your love and care. Dogs are the better pet for me. There have also been other stories of dog hero's. I have heard about dogs chasing a rabbid wolf away from a helpless child. And a dog who saved its blind owner from a tornado. People don't underestimate cats.
