After Effects Tutorial - Shatter and Disintegration Effect Part 1 of 2

Many requests for this, so here it is. How to achieve the effect at the end of the Coldplay Viva La Vida music video where the band members disintegrate. Part 1 of 2 so don't forget to catch the second bit.

It is nobody's fault. It is a complicated effect with many settings. Try something easier and just shatter anything like a solid picture using just the default effect. Then play with the sliders and settings to see what you can achieve

Or split the laye and apply the shatter to the split piece

I cant get the lady layer on top of the fractal layer, I have to use luma matte for it, is this ok?
