@phillippibeard actually thats not entirely accurate. todays train is a mix between the Southerner and The Crescent. they were two seperate trains til the mid 70s when Southern wanted to shed its passenger service.

That train's been around a while. I rode it from New Orleans, LA to Annapolis, MD around 1955, and my dad rode it all the way from New Orleans to Penn Station in New York, NY in the 1920s.

The dining car IS a Heritage Dining Car, but I do miss the old Heritage Coaches that the Amtrak Crescent used to have in their consist, they were nice cars.

Yeah, that horn was a hybrid K5LA, but never the less, it's still a K5LA, but I like the original K5LA horn on the Crescent train though, I'm more familiar with that horn.

This was an awesome video Matt! I hadn't seen it before! Gave you the cool 5*****!

Speaking of this train, is the 3rd car in this train(after its baggage car) a Heritage car?
ViagraMan2Us's response that it's a dining car is probably correct, if it was a Heritage car. It's my understanding that the Heritage equipment had to be taken out of service because the bathrooms emptied onto the track, which is now illegal. However, that wouldn't be a problem with a dining car, presumably.

Great video, what was the location?
It's quite a thrill being that close to the tracks. Thanks for sharing
