Testflight with Vortex Generators from stolspeed.com installed only on the outer part of the wing. Powersetting is idle. Tested in Locarn,LSZL south of the Swissalps with 25kt X-wind and heavy Turbulance.
Staal speed with this modification is 45kt. Clean wing, no VGs installed stall at 51kt.
Complete wing midified with VGs stall at 40kt with idle power.
Max power stall at 35kt.

  • Where are the vortex generators then? What you can see are streamers to show the breakup of the laminar flow as the wing begins to stall. Vortex generators would be fitted near the leading edge and look like blades or fins protruding into the airflow.

  • Interesting, the wing must have a few degrees of washout at the wing tips, as the in-board wing stalled way before the wing tips did.
