Lough Derg lies about four miles north of the village of Pettigo in County Donegal. Station Island, the location of the Pilgrimage, is often referred to as Saint Patrick's Purgatory or simply Lough Derg. This is a special sanctuary of peace and personal challenge. This small lake-island, renowned in Irish Christian tradition since the time of St. Patrick, has been receiving pilgrims continuously for well over 1000 years.

  • I completed the 3 day pilgrimage for the first time last week. Absolutely feel the benefit of it, but gosh Id be lying if I said it wasnt one of the hardest things I have ever done

  • Actually the prayers are said four times - once circling outside the bed, once at the entrance, once circling inside, and once kneeling at the cross inside. I'm just back. It was amazing! Purgatory, Hell and Heaven, in that order. Thanks for this record.
