This is why I haven't posted an ELP video in a while. I started learning this one about 2 years ago, and finished it about one year ago. After that I made the backing track, which has well over 100 hours of work in it. The rest of the time has just been getting around to making a video already.

The drums were sequenced note by note with MIDI and played through the EZDrummer drum samples. I played the bass part over that. I patched all of the synth sounds that are played on the top keyboard using the Arturia Moog Modular V simulator. The voice changes and fadeout are automated in the track on GarageBand. The organ is a Hammond XK-3 and the middle keyboard is simply acting as a MIDI keyboard for the Hammond, so the bottom two keyboards are the same instrument.

Considering the amount of work that it takes to sequence the drums for a section of the song, and considering the lack of really fun keyboard work in Battlefield, I decided to leave it out. I also didn't include the organ solo from Mass and I cut the Aquatarkus solo short. But even after all that, there's still a healthy 13 minutes of music left. This part is Eruption, Stones of Years, Iconoclast, and Mass.

Eruption, Stones of Years, Iconoclast, Mass, Manticore, Aquatarkus

  • Hey, how do u connect multiple keyboards Via Audio interface and trigger the VSTis????

  • @Jaikumar257 The Hammond and the Korg are generating their own sounds. They are combined in an audio mixer and then run into the interface. The top keyboard is connected by USB and is controlling the Moog plugin. Hope that helps

  • wow man, i'm jalous! Nice work. Just a little practice on the singing?

  • @krismolleke

haha yeah, I was happy enough to get the major keyboard transitions down, so I guess I didn't focus too much on the vocals.

  • This is my favourite from the album "TARKUS" released on 14-06-1971 ! Fantastic playing keep on rockin man ! On 25-07-2010 the band are going to return for a reunion for a single concert ! You know ?

  • Yeah I really want to go, it's just a matter of whether or not I can make it to London this summer. I might be taking summer classes, but hopefully I can plan around ELP!
