truely an impressive aircraft, well ahead of its time.....
only if these had replaced the -130s....what a different world this would be.....

Boeing and the USAF tested the loading characteristics of a MBT (M60A2) on the YC-14 at Edwards AFB. The tank fit through the ramp entrance with inches to spare. It was tight! I backed the tank into the planes cargo area following instructions from an Air Force Colonel via external headset. I still have the newspaper article and picture.

Что сказать... Наш Ан-72 на порядок красивей, и обводы более аэродинамические... Ну кроме того наш до сих пор в серийном производстве, а у амеров парочка опытных на задворках ржавеет... жалко машинку, как замена Геркулесу она была бы неплоха...

Those flew over my house in the 70s in Renton, and man was it QUIET. They still haven't replaced the C-130. Russians built a smaller version of this, and put it into service.
