March 11th, 2011, was Equal Pay Day in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is the day where women make the same salary as men for one year of work. Essentially, women have to work 15 months to a man's 12 months in order to earn the same amount of money. Students from Pepperdine University walked around Lausanne to raise awareness about unequal pay for women in the workforce. Afterwards was the Lausanne BPW Round Table which served as a conference for women advocating the issue of unequal pay. This is a video to raise awareness regarding this issue. Women earn, in Lausanne, 19.7% percent less than men. It is a discrepancy that exists around the world, and must be solved on a local level. Here is the Pepperdine story of advocacy.
