The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch had it's own armoured train. This 15" gauge fighting unit did actually bring down the odd German aeroplane or two.The railway was thought to be very important by the boffins in government,as it ran very close to the English Channel, with the Germans waiting a chance to invade on the other side. When the boffins saw the tiny trains,l wonder what they thought.Bet there were some red faces, heh?

Yes you could say that - I used to go to Brockhill Boys ( then Boys only !) and walk home along the line and then pop in the back garden vis the railway.

    Regards

  • @spannerworks1 A convenient short cut!

  • From what I know the Plywood is a replica of the original metal armor.

  • @exveefan That sounds right.Much easier to move the train about too,as it's lighter.

  • @Madness832 lt certainly looked that way.l expect they used metal during the war,but you never know!

  • Armored plywood?!! ROFL!!!!

  • @elad463 lt's a bit like that here,as l live only a short distance from the railway.

  • thanks, whenever I think of trains I think of july vacations and grandpa he had tracks running 3 yards from his front door. I got used to sleeping with horns, whistles, and wheels at midnight.
