Much Better: Chapter 6 - A Jonas Story

Lisa looks around at the three of them and suddenly exclaims "Oh, where are my manners... do you guys want something to drink? I dont know whats in the fridge but I was told its stocked." "Sure." They reply. She walks over to the fridge and opens it. She lists off what she can see "Okay, I got Beer, Coke and Diet Coke, OJ, Water... " Nick answers "Diet Coke, please." Joe relies "Yeah that sound good." Lisa looks over to Kevin "...and you Kevin?" Kevin he stutters "A... (he looks over at his brothers) Coke." Lisa sighs "Okay, I hope you don't mind but I'm having a beer." Joe says "No problem (he shoots a look at Kevin) we don't drink, do we." Kevin gives a reluctant nod. She pulls out a bottle of beer, 2 cans of Diet Coke and a can of regular Coke. "Do you guys want glasses? I'm sure I have some here somewhere." She motions to the boxes piled in the corner. Joe chuckles "No, glasses are for dweebs.... so Nick will have one won't you little bro." Nick glares at Joe, who almost falls off his chair laughing. Kevin shakes his head "It ain't that funny Joe, Chill."

Looking through the kitchen drawers Lisa says "Damn, I don't have a bottle opener." Kevin smiles and pulls a keychain with an opener out of his pocket "That's okay I got one right here." He opens the beer for her. She gives him a flirty grin "I like a man who's prepared." Kevin gives her a similar smile back. Joe says sarcastically "Yeah, He's a real Boy Scout." Lisa giggles then thinks to herself *what was that, giggling like a teenager, how old are you?* everyone grabs their drinks and Kevin raises his in the air "Well, Lisa welcome to the neighbourhood!" He gives her a big smile; she looks and is locked into his eyes. She feels a surge of warmth run through her whole body. She consciously pulls herself away and gets out a weak sounding "Thanks." She quickly takes a long drink trying to calm her raging hormones. *Thank god.... I need this.... it's getting very Hot in here* she thinks to herself. She finishes half the bottle, when she finally takes it away from her mouth; she notices all three are staring at her. "I was thirsty." She say's trying to sound convincing. Joe grins "Okay if you say so!"

Lisa quickly changes the subject, she point to the couch and chairs that are still covered with moving blankets and shrink wrap. "So I guess I should get some of this stuff sorted out."
Joe looks over at the stuff "We can help you... Right Guys!" Nick and Kevin nod their heads "Yeah, of course." Lisa questions surprised "Are you sure? I dont want to take you away from anything else." Kevin adds "No we had no plans." Joes stands up "Besides we get to flex our muscles." He goes into a bodybuilder pose. Lisa laughs her eyes widen as she stares at his muscular arms "Who am I to stop you then." She says with a flirty smile. Joe shoots her a wry smile and raises one eyebrow. Lisa walks out from behind the counter and takes a seat on the stool Joe had been sitting in "But first I need to get more comfortable." They watch as she raises her right leg and unzips her boot and then does the same with the left one. She slips both boots off and they fall to the floor. She takes the scarf from around her neck and puts it on the counter then smiles at them "Now are you ready for this?" They look at each other with questioning looks. She hops off the stool and stands on the floor, in her bare feet, revealing that she is 4 inches shorter than she was, now no longer standing eye to eye with them. Joe bursts out laughing, Kevin smirks and Nick grins and exclaims "Your'e Short!" Lisa replies sarcastically "Thanks, I hadnt noticed! Why do you think I wear those things when I'm out." She points to her boots on the floor. Joe walks over to her looking sympathetic and puts his arm around her shoulder and gives it a squeeze, his touch sends a shiver down her spine. "Nick... Don't be mean... Short people have feelings too." Lisa looks up at him wounded, she gives him a little punch in the chest, as she exclaims. "Hey!" He staggers back grabbing his chest "OH... OH... The Pain...The Pain!" He stops and gives her his biggest smile. She sneers at him but is thinking *wow he has a great smile*. Kevin then approaches "Okay, stop teasing the poor girl." She smiles up at him appreciatively, he places his hand on the small of her back, another tremor moves though her body. "Remember what Mom always says (an evil smirk appears on his face) we need to be nice to the... Little People." She turns and gives him a punch in the arm "I thought you Guys were nice... "she pouts. She looks at their sorry faces and burst out laughing, "It's okay, guys I get that all the time."
