My mother. Father and mother is man and wife, man and wife is one flesh, and so, my mother.
Best insult ever.

Anyone who enjoys this scene should check out an essay on Hamlet by G. Wilson Knight; some great insight in this.
I didn't think it was possible to contain so many clever word-plays and morbid jokes in one scene! If I were pressed to give a favorite scene in the film, this would be it.

Hamlet: your FAT KING ...

I love Shakespeare's way of telling someone to go to hell
"In heaven. Send thither to see. If your messenger find him not there, seek him in the other place yourself"
Bloody brilliant!!

Shakespearean trolling is the best trolling

Branagh does this scene the best out of all the other versions.

Branagh was actually very fortunate to have Derek Jacobi on board. He could pretty much take care of himself with all his experience, bit like Liam Neeson in Phantom Menace
Hamlet's kiss to Claudius was excellent in terms of dramatical technique...
Hamlet manipulates Claudius spectactularly

think so? I think Ken stole the movie, but he was hamlet, so that's expected. Jacobi was amazing as Hamlet himself, and is an amazing Claudius as well.
