Independent candidate responds to Del. Scott Surovell's proposal to repeal the Marshall-Newman amendment.
Background: The Marshall-Newman amendment (also known as the Virginia marriage amendment) was ratified by voter referenda in 2006. It passed with an overwhelming 57% of the vote, defining marriage as solely between one man and one woman, and banning the recognition of any legal status approximating the design, qualities, significance, or effects of marriage.

Thanks for the reply.
Not to split hairs, but the passages you have cited are not speaking about "marriage", they are speaking about situations involving 'husbands and wives'. There is a difference, but in order to discuss it, we would need a bit more space than what is afforded to us in a forum such as this.
At any rate, Solomon was hardly a role model when it came to women... we are told that his sexual shortcomings produced some pretty negative consequences, 1 Kings 11:4.

Genesis 4:19- "And Lamech took unto him two wives."
Judges 8:30- "And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives."
1 Kings 11:2-3- "Solomon ... had seven hundred wives ... and three hundred concubines."
One man, and between one and one thousand women.
