This is about half of my collection of modelcars that I've made or bought. I got my first modelcar in metal when I was about four, but it didn`t last for long:P When I was about seven, I got my first plastic modelcar which was a VW beetle, with Herbie motives. It is stil with me today, and you can see it in this vid, a black thing without fenders.... I forgot to film my latest car, a Ferrari 250 GTO that I `ve been working on for two years, though it is not finished yet.
@rx6180 Hehe that's cool! I coud see that the color was wrong, and that's a shame, because it looks good!
I would love to see your modelcars! How many are there?

I think there must be many versions of Herbie. If you type 'Polistil Herbie' into Google (other Search Engines are available!) and then select 'Images' you can find two or three small pictures of the one like mine, among lots of other examples. One picture shows Herbie split apart. The number 53 is the wrong colour on this model - white on black. They were all like this. I can't say when, but I'm thinking of going round with my camera to show you some of my models. Not the ones in the attic tho!

@rx6180 That must be a very rare car! I never heard of it, but I've seen a Herbie model in 1/43 scale that was in one piece, it's my dads, and it's actually his original toy car, with everything, including a person who hangs out of one of the windowsl.

@rx6180 Hehe I think my dad did something similar, because his Tornado was in such bad condition, that he bought another one... I think my dad also had the Camaro, though he destroyed it... Yes, Austin A60 is th name of it! I actually had the chance to buy a VW beelte from The Driving School, but for some reason, I didn't buy it.

I've got a die cast model of Herbie made by Polistil of Italy. I had it for Christmas when I was about ten (say, 1972!) It is made in two halves which latch together. When you press a button behind the front wheel arch, the two halves spring apart! It doesn't seperate completely, but the two halves stay together held by an extended transmission tunnel. I've never seen another one like it when I was doing the rounds at toy fairs in the 1990s.

I've got the Oldsmoblie Toronado, my original, which is in reasonable condition apart from the fact that I deliberately crashed it into one of my other toy cars till the grille broke. Mind you, that was more than 35 years ago! I've also got a Golden Jacks Camaro SS, though that is a good played-with example I bought from a toy fair about 20 years ago to replace my original which was thrown away. The driving school car is an Austin A60 Cambridge. I never had one of those but one of my friends did

@rx6180 those Corgi and Dinky cars are pretty interesting to look at, even though most of my dads cars isn't in such a good condition anymore. there was a special model serie, called Golden Jacks I think, and he has got several of those, including a Rolls Royce Silver shadow, a Mini Marcos, some kind of Rover, an Oldsmobile Tornado, and a few more. Those are actually pretty fun to "play" with, but my favorite is a car, an Austin to be correct, from Corgi driving school if I remember right.

@rx6180 That's the problem with plastic models, they break, but on the other side, when they break, you can often rebuild them! I kept my first plastic modelcar, as you can see in the video, but it's not how it was originally, at first, it was a Herbie VW, but now, it's a rat-rod VW without fenders, and a chopped roof, and the reason I did that, was because it broke:D

The only '57 Chevy Bel Air I've got now is a red Matchbox Dinky version in 1/43 scale from the early 1990s. I began collecting late 80s/early 90s Corgi Classics and the Matchbox Dinky series alongside the older Dinky and Corgi toys when I used to go to toyfairs. I also had a thing for Jaguars, and have got some 1/43 scale die-casts and even the odd white metal model. I've also a few model buses based on local bus companies. Most, but not quite all of these models, are boxed up in the loft now.

Sadly the Bel Air doesn't exist any more. The Airfix Zodiac is only 1/32 scale and came as a customised Police car, as part of a series of four customised Ford car kits, though I cannot remember what the others were! I think one was a Ford Anglia. After it got damaged, I rebuilt the Zodiac as a straight custom car painted yellow. As time went on and the Zodiac and Chevy van got broke, I used more glue to stick them together & they aren't in good condition now, but I keep them for old times sake
