This is our Mazda RX8 which has been converted to run on LPG. Without this conversion we would not have been able to afford to keep the car. It covered 35000 miles last year alone! It was converted at 57000 miles and has now covered over 100000 (January 2012), We achieve around 150 miles per tank, it is a 50 litre tank which will hold 40 litres of LPG. It will start on petrol then switch over to LPG when ready. It's been 100% reliable. The conversion was carried out by Hardy's Garage http://www.hardysrecovery.co.uk/ using an 8 cylinder Eg@s kit and a modified ECU. There is a slight reduction in road tax but only a measly £10 per year!

  • Great work but i have a Q: does it still inject oil when running on LPG? I mean, LPG doesn't disolves the oil right? Thx.

  • @Spraakgebrek hiya, yes the oil is still injected in the same way. It's lubrication properties are probably even better than when running on petrol to be honest as it's not getting washed away :-)

  • It's now gone over the 100000 mile mark.

  • i want to ask you a question ...have it lost any of its power?is speed the same?

  • @PanosArrogant Hi, there is a slight reduction in power, i would say maybe 10%. But this is pretty much unoticable when cruising on the motorway, If you need the full power you can switch immediately to petrol.

  • hey friend...very nice video...o would like to ask something about the rx8...i want to buy an rx8 but i listen that this car has to many problems because the engine is Wankel....is this real???its consuming very much petrol and oil?and last question i would like to convert it to lpg...where i can order the parts??? because the most of the people says that is difficult to convert it and it is dangerous...and nobody does it...please answer me...thank you!!!!

  • Hi,an RX8 does not use huge amounts of oil as many people will tell you. Rotary engines are designed to burn oil with the fuel but the quantities are not excessive.Fuel on the other hand it does use a lot of,hence the reason for converting. The main cause for engine problems on an RX8 are the coil packs, these are generally only good for 30,000 or so miles. When they fail, the unburned fuel causes damage to the engine and Cat. An RX8 treated well will last well.Get a compression test before buying.

  • nice work man!!!

  • great video mate ive also got lpg on my e39 530 m sport and its nice to see someone being honest about how many miles they get from there lpg tank what litre is your engine?

  • I thought propane offered a higher octane. Would this not increase power by 10% not a loss? Just wondered because many guys doing hill climb use propane as a fuel additive to make more power. Very curious. Cool fuel system I must say tho!

  • @PanosArrogant the same.. lpg spend more but petrol is expensive... lpg is saving your money

  • @djphilmanns thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
