Maria and Megan perform the Robert Burns song "The Braes of Killiecrankie" at Lawrence Scottish Fest. From the DVD "Scots on the Kaw." See www.LawrenceScots.org for more videos from this DVD.
Hmmmm ... think this might owe quite a bit to Scottish folksinger ALASTAIR McDONALD's "Velvet & Steel" arrangement & rousing performance, hey? ;-) ... right down to his quite unique take on certain words & pronunciation! A good cover version homage. Alastair McD's own performance is viewable via my playlist. I also highly recommend a visit to Alastair's own CORBAN RECORDINGS website & ebay shop, for a musical feast of many colours & moods of Scottishness. (ENJOY!!)
Sorry to labour the artistic point :-) ... but a check of The World Burns Club site reveals there's definitely no shankie O'ing in Burns's lyrics. In my humble opinion, this performance owes a huge debt to Scottish folk singer Alastair McDonald's quite distinctive retake on the other trad version (viewable via my playlist or at Camfind's channel). With respect, there'd be "nae shame, nae shame" in Ms Anthony thus acknowledging in future performances, hey? ;-)
