Vivid close up pair of wild Rosella's..first sighted by convicts in the first settlement Sydney Australia at Rosehills,1st named Rosehill Lorikeet then Rosehiller Abrv8d 2 Rosella..Australian native..Ferale 2 New Zealand escapees from careless bird collecters..inhabit coastal moutains & Plains %some nearby islands Norfolk island,,this pair have been around as long as we have inhabited this house 8yrs thay got some unfinished work see he is looking at the back of our house where they continue to peck a hole in the wall i will cover the hole they come back and start pecking a hole again same spot every time keeps him busy while the Female keep gaurd on the Clothes line.. i zoomed in the best i could to give U all a good look at there colourful plumage this is just one of the many species of my Hood often C large flocks of these & many other birds U can hear the Sulpher crested Cockies comeing B4 U C them and crimson Rosellas hear the many Birds chattering away in the background

  • @Arachloroptera Hi I live on the western side of Lake Macquarie NSW very close to the foothills of the Wattagan Mountains a Large Spure of Mountain Range conected to the Blue Mountains I'm 10 mins walk from very heavy Bushland .. as Far as i know the eastern Rosella isn't a Subspecies, ie a mixtured of Cross Breeding Cheers: )

  • Thanks Bro,,the bird father back on the cloths line is the female bird the plumage is not as detailed as the male birds who has to strut his stuff to attract a partner.thats why he is so colourful

  • Thanks we got a love hate relation ship going on now 4 quit some years we love him & his partner he hates our house he has been pecking a hole in the back wall there here most mornings i keep patching the hole with a lump of wood he just won't give up i hope they have a nest near by and R raising young ones there they do dissapear 4 several weeks in springtime only the male comes back 4 a peck now & then but i love old Ron & Ronda the Rosellas been here that long we had 2 name them

  • @nastyolddog - Hi A Subspecies is not a hybrid- which is what you are referring to. It is a geographical variation. ! cheers

  • Why don't you just put a nesting box at the spot where they are trying to peck holes in your house?

  • male easterns are known to peck a females eyes out etc if they dont come to the party

  • Yes i know In my area we are Blessed with such colorful birds of many varities these birds and many more i see in large focks on my morning walk with my dog it's not unusual for me to see Rosellas in a flock of about 30 or 40 feeding on the grass seeds at our local ovals and park lands and many other species of Parrots and Gallars or them just flying around the sky screaming like banshees can hear them comeing B4 U can C them very spectacular indeed i will try & get some clips 2 post up soon
