In this drill, the goaltender will be simulating a situation in which the shooter is shooting between the bottom of the circle and the goal line. Two variation will be addressed: 1.) If there is no pass option for the shooter, the goatlender should step off of the post and square up to the shooter like any other shot. 2.) If there is a pass option or traffic around the net, goaltender should go into the knee lock position. You can see that our goaltender did not quite get his pad parallel to the goal line, but this is crucial because it allows for the goalie to push across the goal line should the shooter pass the puck. This is also a great drill to develop your goaltender's decision-making skills.

  • Only thing I don't like is the five hole being somewhat vulnerable on the knee lock technique, other than that everything looks very nice.

  • he's good..love the pads but that "knee lock" or VH(vertical horizontal) is mainly used for behind the net if the shooter is gonna try a wrap around...but it works for pass options too...not critizing your teaching methods just improving :)
