Dr. Song 宋醫師 performs for the viewers a 葫蘆絲 húlúsī solo (cucurbit flute solo), a wind instrument made of gourd and bamboo, an erhu spike fiddle solo (such instruments also used by China's minority tribes and neighboring countries and called by such names as IGIL, KOKYU, HAEGEUM, KYL KIAK, DAN GAO, MORIN CHUUR, CHUURQIN, etc) and an indigenous form of folk singing akin to the singing styles of the Chinese central and northern plains agrarian and semi-nomadic societies. He performs his song at the very recent Lunar New Year's Lantern Festival in Monterey Park California. His musical form and sound is both tough and gravelly, with touches of grace and elegance that is apparent in all his musical performances.
