Apparently London Underground are using a Sparrow Hawk to keep pigeons out of some of their train sheds.

The hawk wasted most of the kill.

I see this every few months in my garden. Sparrow-hawks are extremely common in S.England now.

Nice. We have a problem with pigeons hanging out and nesting in an appliance storage warehouse where I work. Well, a Kestrel figured out that Pigeons make easy lunch if it can get them cornered inside. I watched one eat a pigeon one day, it was fascinating. It sat there for hours munching on the pigeon, and it was so full that it actually roosted in the warehouse for the night. It still comes back from time to time to snack. Nice to see nature in action.

Very impressive capture.
OK, so we all know it's a Sparrowhawk, give the guy a break. The important thing is that he recorded it .They are the wildest of the wild and a fantastic hunter as demonstrated here. They seldom fail to kill when locked on a target, even one as big as itself, as this pigeon found out.
