A Tribute that aired on TV shortly after the tragic accident in 1986, with a very fitting song (by someone who was originally supposed to be on the Challenger instead of Christa McCauliffe, and who himself later died in a plane crash) I was 6 when the challenger tragedy occured

  • What a great tribute to some wonderful people that we all miss, the 7 astronauts, John Denver and Pres. Ronald Reagan. I had this recording taped on a cassette that was recorded the same week as the disaster. I've played it now and then over the years, each time never failing to make me cry. Now this cassette is in very poor condition. Thank you for posting it. As usual, John Denver has this beautiful way of writing lyrics that touch us all so deeply. What a great song. God bless them all.

  • @MrNiggyPants Your stupid statement about another human neing is not worth a comment, because you would never be able to understand it.

  • Christa Maculiffe blew the shuttle up

    dumb broad

  • Beautiful! Thanks so much for posting this, and keeping the memory of these 7 very special & brave people alive. I love Ronald Reagan's closing comments. Gives me chills and goose bumps, and also makes me treasure each day.

  • r.i.p you were brave you had courage when i went to kennedy space centre those rockets fly in memory for the challenger R I P

  • It must have been hard on the school children who were watching Christa go up in Challenger and then see it explode.

  • 24 yrs ago and it still gets to me. Rest In Peace you brave 7 souls. I feel honored to have gotten a chance to see the memorial at Arlington. Now sad to say, the Columbia 7 are along side them forever.

    - I touch the future, I teach ~ Christa McAuliffe.

They may be gone in the flesh, but alive forever in our hearts. The proof is in NASA never giving up and trekking on to the unknown.
