After the terrorist attacks in Manhattan on Sept. 11, 2001, there was speculation that the days of the skyscraper were over. But five years later there has been a resurgence in the skyscraper's popularity. This boom is fueled by a new approach to design -- designing for sustainability. E&ETV's Special Report, "Building the Tallest Green Buildings," takes you inside Manhattan's green skyscrapers and explains how they differ from conventional structures. Experts discuss how the green buildings trend has evolved and talk about the future of sustainable design.

  • green buildings means a more sustainable building... since we cant stop urbanization, constructing green buildings is a great help... a more environment-friendly building for a happier and healthier city.

  • So you expect me to believe that in 7 months, the existing building 7 was completely removed. a new most advanced skyscraper was designed and approved, planing applications, building regulations, safely requirements were met, contracts were issued and negotiated with contractors and you were ready to start construction.

impossible !!! this project must have been planed way in advance.

    think about it!!!!!!

  • bldg 7 would have continued to stay in place had it not been blown up by the US government

  • These are important examples of what can be done. If in the NYC area visit the Liberty Science Center to learn more about skyscraper technologies and construction.

  • With the amount of money these guys are throwing at these buildings they should all be LEED Platinum.
