http://UltimateBadBack Strategies.com I have just finished a series of articles to go along with this video. Degenerative disc disease is one of the most misunderstood conditions affecting people with neck pain, back pain, and sciatica. Degenerative disc disease is not a disease at all, it is a condition, a response to aging and a constellation of behaviors all working in concert against the spine. By properly understanding the nature of degenerative disc disease you can deal with it and the neck pain, back pain, and sciatica that generally accompanies it, particularly in the advanced stages of the "disease." Much of what we have been doing with the 30 Day Challenge has been focused on helping people overcome the causes of this condition and achieve real and lasting neck pain, back pain, and sciatica relief. For real and lasting pain relief:

  • He has it right - modern medicine, if you want to call it that, is going to drug you, cut on you, and you will still end up in pain, only now you are addicted to pain meds. Better to do lifestyle changes, as he suggests. Better to do lifestyle changes for MOST all medical problems.

  • @drstand Thank you for your comment! Far too many go for the quick fix, the pain pill, only to realize that it is a trap. Lifestyle changes are indeed the answer. There are 5 factors and 5 consequences. Focus on them and 99 times out of 100 you will avoid surgery and return to a normal life. When it comes to the back, the quick fix is anything but!

  • In many cases weight loss, combined with a sensible exercise and therapy program will help. Given the fact that you are experiencing numbness in your arms and legs, you probably have a number of issues to deal with and an overall, medically supervised program, followed by work with an experienced trainer, someone who has worked with back patients and has suffered from back problems him or herself! Empathy and understanding is crucial for your success. Neurologist over a surgeon as well! John

  • First, I am not a medical practitioner, I am a physical anthropologist. I have had 14 spine operations and my doctoral research was on age-progressive phenomena affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints. Degenerative disc disease is condition that has as much to do with behavior, along with the five factors! Numbness may be a consequence of nerve root impingement or something as straightforward as muscle inflammation. Your first step should be to get a thorough workup by a competent neurologist!

  • I was just diagnosed with disc disease in my neck. It hurts so much no matter what i do. Any suggestions to pain relief naturally without taking tons of muscle relaxers and pain meds. I was given both kinds of pills and i really dont want to depend on the pills to feel better.

  • question, I have been diagnosed with Degenerative disc disease. I am experiencing numbness and tingling in my arms and legs, what can I do to help this stop? Thanks
