  • Hi, I'm an ESL teacher in Beijing and have been doing magic since a young age - I'm wanting to try and combine Magic into my classes too. How did you go about teaching the students the effects and combining it into your class structure? Cheers!! :)

  • @bradles1980 Tanks for the comment.

Magic can be used very well to teach sequential language. I.e. first ... then ... now ... finally. They can put this to use building paragraphs for writing. I have also used magic to teach how much / how many (any coin or card trick using this vocab will do) or how long (rope tricks). You can find specific tricks to teach specific language targets you want to teach but its best as an incentive to get students to talk to you/ask questions etc.

  • It's not easy for these kids to stand in front of a camera and use another language, but we try and use a fun medium for them to gain confidence and enjoy communicating.
