@Misha21 Oh wow. I heard she had cancer. I could be wrong though. Wonderful montage, thank you for uploading :-)

When I was involved in gymnastics in the 60's she was a joy to watch. Her grace and style gave Russian gymnastics a classy feminine side. I am sad she has passed away, still I remember her with much respect and fondness.
-
@sakurasoh yeah and she was also the head coach of the 1980 Olympic team and, I believe, the 78 World Championships too,
-
its a shame that this is pretty much the only footage remaining of her
-
Oops' 'absurd' not 'obsurd'. My bad.
-
Simply absurd is right.
-
Well put Misha21. XxHuntressxX1's post has to be one of the most ridiculous I have ever had the misfortune of coming across on youtube. Simply obsurd.

Since when is a beautiful song only to be used based on a person's nationality? I've never read anything so obsurd in all my life.

Amazing grace is not just an American song. It has been translated in many languages including Russian. I used the music because it compliments her artist style.

how did she die?

Polina died simply of old age, she competed in the late 50's, early 60's and was in her 20's then.

Hey... I just found out she was the coach for Olga Korbut at Munich Olympic 1972.

She was actually the coach for the whole USSR team at the Olympics, mainly because the team could have only one coach on the floor and they decided it should be a female.
