John Grant (1876-1961), amateur piper and piobaireachd enthusiaste, composed 66 piobaireachds over a period of almost fifty years. Here is what is probably a world premiere of his "Lament for the Earl of Dunmore" from Grant's "The Royal Collection of Piobaireachd - 2nd Edition." Accompanying are photos of Grant throughout his life.

  • Ceol Mor the bleedin work we put into playing the pipes makes me think there is no such thing as an "amature" piper!

  • all of a sudden i feel more inspired to learn a piobaireachd... if only people played this more.

  • I prefer piobaireachd..

  • So moving and breathtaking. Everytime I hear the bagpipes, it just moves me in a way few other types of music can, and I'm an easily moved person! It is almost entrancing....

  • im glad that jim who taught me to play, taught me piobaireachs, although one problem with a right old fashioned guy teaching you is that half of the stuff is now never used, its a shame but hey it sounds much better

  • Yes, some good comments here. Many people are in too much of a hurry nowadays but this standard of piping can be put on a par with that of the late Pipe-Major Robert Brown.

  • To me this is true piping. Never get the chance to hear this these days.

  • This is what I needed tonight. Thanks!

  • Beautiful, thank you for sharing.

  • This is officially my new shaving tune! Incredible! Thank you for posting!
