Doctor Katz, Surgeon Director of Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, explains the ways in which hearing loss can occur, including tinitus, which is the ringing sound so often heard after concerts.

  • RE: video presentation: Of all videos to have loud background music -- I would not have guessed you would not be more aware and sensitive of a presentation that a moderate to severe hearing loss would eliminate one's interpretation to your work. It is so profound that as a speechreader - I thank heavens a lip reader can see you speak as they certainly are not going to hear it --- take away that backgound noise - a number one rule for the HoH population

  • Sorry Dr Katz . . I can't hear you . . turn the music down, please!

  • Noise-induced hearing loss is 100% preventable - protect your hearing!

  • didn't hear a word he said... loose the foreground music

I'm 80% deaf... I have worked in loud enviorments for 20 years and no it's not noise related, it's genetic. Inner ear otosclerosis... lound noises is not alway the cause

  • I'm gonna be honest. I clicked this because I thought i saw a vagina.

  • @staraction I think us with some hearing problems rather be deaf than blind.

  • has anyone ever gone to dr katz? my husband has nearing loss and a terrible time with tinnitis-20 years now-I need to find him help!

  • Because i have Tinnitus it cause Presbycusis in which it made my hearing loss to happen.

  • how did you get deaf? did you go to a show?
