The Late Sensei Enoeda demonstrating the shotokan karate routine that he, and some students did in the first ever TV program to be solely about karate. The program also featured Dave Hazard and Steve Cattle.
@ShotokanKarateMan1 wow I was hoping for a little more then that. I will give you that styles like Wado ryu and other japanese styles are influence by jujutsu. Emperial Japan of the early 20th centery did that to many things. But I would say from doing research that Chinese Chin na is the origin for the joint locks and throws in okinawan karate.
@ShotokanKarateMan1 ok they said it in one sentence at the start of the show. if you do a lot more research in to the topic you will find that rather then its being infuence from jujutsu it was far more influence by Chin Na, which also might have had influence in Jujutsu. Now the Jujutsu may have influence the more modern styles karate. ultimately they are all going to look like each other in the end because they all reach the same end point. but i dont see jujutsu having influence on karate.
@ShotokanKarateMan1 You just said that karate was based on jujutsu. but now you are saying no art is based on another art? i am confused. I am still wondering how you can say karate was based on jujutsu. I am always interesting in the history because i have never heard that statement before.
@wayoftheforesthand the human body has only one way of fighting, so nobody can say that martial art A comes from B because nothing does and everything does.
@ShotokanKarateMan1 thats a new one. I have never heard anyone say that before. since karate is a Okinawan system of fighting which combined Okinawan Te and Chinese Chuan Fa. I would be interested to hear our opinion.

I see some petty debating on here as to what came first, the chicken or the egg.
