although it is still an option at purchase

@garlex134 it's just added protection so you don't dint the aircraft, you position mobile baggage belts up against this for loading

Why is the metal bar at the bottome of the door?

Highly unlikely. Notice it opens inwards. When the aircraft is pressurized it will prevent the door from opening.
