Habitat has helped thousands of earthquake-affected families by distributing 21,000 emergency shelter kits and over 1,000 transitional or upgradeable shelters. For more information, visit http://www.habitat.org/disaster/active_programs/haiti_earthquake.aspx#P0_0
looks like good durable home!! {sarcasm} Do the people who built that realize that Haiti is an island that goes through really intense hurricane seasons? or did they know that tarp gets REALLY hot in the sun making the house inhabitable. Great thought, but it doesn't solve the problem.

Oh My God, that is exactly what I had in mind..., and like Jimi Carter, I love those damn peanuts too! I guess I'll have to learn from the experts, you guys have me beat. With proper funding, you could have sent those kits to all the families in Haiti, and you're needed in the USA as well. Floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, they all need the Habitat for Humanity touch. FEMA, has to fund you guys, as a first line of relief, after any disaster, all across the USA.

@achcunam I would have to agree that anyone going to Haiti to make money are pigs, simple as that. I'm going to Haiti the 26th of next month and I'm paying for everything out of my own pocket and I'm not rich at all I worked hard all year and saved. I'm not bragging but I think you should know there are a lot of people like me who don't want anything from Haitians but to help in their time if need. I hope you don't think that all Americans and Europeans are like the people you are speaking of.

@911smartgurl , you are right! 100% right; it is justice the blood of the inocent souls of haiti cry out for , not expliotation of their remeaning family members. not exploitation under the pretext of humanatarian aid. we are on different side of the matter. Me, i want justice, honesty, and fairness for those that are still living. Haiti unemployment rate is so high, that it is pure nonsense in curel that haiti should be ask , to employ other ppls, when Haiti should be putting it ppls to work.

@achcunam , sooner or later the tall tales, the westerners tell about Haiti is going to have to stop cause it is hurting and not building Haiti back. Haitian are being ask to go back to home of 1900, this in my eye sight is a step backwards. the worse part of it, is that it's mask under the diguise of Humanaitarian aid. Haitian need to expose neocolonianlization ; no matter what form it takes. why should a nation with 80-90% unemployment provide jobs for develop world. that's insane.

@911smartgurl , there is nothing about me that is naive; what so ever. the fact remean. You NGO's get the fame, money and status of it all and the Haitian get the mud on their brand call Haiti. I am well aware, it's a business and nothing less. It has nothing, what so ever to do with developing Haiti. it has all to do with keeping Haiti poor. Why should Haiti be ask, to allow wash up from europe and North America to come and pretend to their government.

@achcunam I understand what you mean, but keep in mind that it takes time to rebuild an entire country, especially one that was in a dire state before the earthquake even happened. and these NGOs are working to educate the Haitian people in rebuilding their own country via construction and what not. But it is that surprising to you that a business (or NGO) would also have their own best interest in mind besides that of Haiti? You can't be totally naive when it comes to this kind of stuff.
