  • Wow. Amazing. NZ rules the world - I wish asexuality had this kind of TV exposure everywhere. Still, it is fantastic to see it openly talked about. A perfect vid to send to my puzzled friends. "Asexual forever" - sounds like a good T-Shirt line to me!

    Thanks for posting, sootmouthnz.

  • That's really sweet. I wish asexual-sexual relationships were this easy to work out.

  • @wildchik101 Unfortunately Britain will not be able to handle asexuality very well. The Anglo-Saxon world is very sexualised and they will never understand what it really means to be asexual... unlike the open-minded Kiwis.

  • She's either a very stupid woman or the best girlfriend ever...

  • Yes! She spoke the truth from 5:00 to 5:03.

  • cheers to the Asexuals

  • @wildchik101 I didn;t take it seriously the first time, It never occurred to me that you could not have a sexuality, until I realised I didn't have one. :/

  • @howerut Agreed, I only knew of the term a couple of years ago. It's virtually unheard of where I'm from, you're either straight, gay or bisexual. Seeing a British soap do an asexual storyline would be refreshing. I'd bet the average Joe isn't aware it exists.

  • @wildchik101 Also, because it is such a low awareness thing, asexuality may be under represented because of a lack of awareness, so many asexuals may be unaware, or a lack of willingness to identify as such among males. Also it might be even less than 1% because, like bisexuality it could be over represented, people with bad sexual experiences might identify themselves as asexual, just as people who are 'gay ally' might choose to identify themselves as bisexual politically.

  • @wildchik101 I was surprised too, but there are a few possible reasons, homosexuality could be unrepresented in males due to social pressures, even in anonymous surveys. So Homosexual males would under-identify, also because of feminism and various common forms of sexual abuse, many women might choose to identify as lesbian with the logic "a woman will treat me better" which also would throw off statistics. Suffice to say that the '10%' statistic that gets thrown around is absolutely wrong.

  • @howerut Just one per cent? I'm also surprised there's a higher percentage of gay females compared to males. Thought it'd be the other way round lol

  • @ashtongrist They are from newzeealand.
