08/80 Rule: Is this road safe for an 8 year old? How about an 80 year old? If a city wants to have active, healthy residents, it needs to have roads that are safe for all users of all ages. That way, bicycling can become a realistic and healthy alternative to driving an automobile.

  • I actually hosted those meetings. I think the information gathered from them will prove to be very useful for the planning and engineering agencies in Duluth. There have been increasing numbers of bikers in town, and the city is starting to respond accordingly.

  • Thanks for posting this! I have biked along Grand Ave many times and also bike to the hospital district daily from West Duluth to get to work. There are some areas that are very hair raising that's for sure. Another pet peeve of mine is lack of bike racks at most businesses, such as Walgreens and other pharmacies or grocery stores etc. I run a lot of errands on bike and I have to plan ahead or leave my bike at home if I know there isnt going to be a safe place to lock it up.

  • Thanks for posting this. Did you attend any of the public hearings on bike improvements. If so, what was your take on them?

    Thanks,

    Patrick
