James Biery, minister of music at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, plays the Scherzo from Vierne's Symphony No. 2 on the Aeolian-Skinner organ at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, St. Paul, Minnesota. Videography by Laura Biery.
Excellent playing of a classic.....but the sound would resound better if the mikes where a little further away when recording....enjoyed it all the same....!!!
This is one of my favourites and--a stellar performance here on an organ after Louis Vierne's own heart. I am happy for the renovations of the two organs--and I must add--it is important that these historic consoles not be discarded! Even if they are no longer required here, there are organs for which they would be ideal. These are national treasures--I know that they will be treated with the gravity of their status and historicity.
Thank you for this wonderful tour of the depths and inner workings of this marvelous pipe organ. You did as good a job as Discovery Channel would do. Good luck on your renovation project. Please post videos of the progress.
Thank you so much for this very detailed visit ! I learnt few interesting things about those organs! Wish you the best for the Quimby renovation project!! And, of course, for this very nice Vierne on it! :^)
The organ playing is excellent. if there is one quibble I have it is this must either be a very old organ or the key actions need bushing. Very noisy this spoils the clarity of your organ playing.
very well executed.

An excellent tour, Mr. Biery, and thanks for the Vierne. We're continuing to help with the Quinby project as we are able.
