  • Amen to that. If you are prolife, DO SOMETHING! Come down to the abortion mills and meet the mothers in crisis, and then work to meet their needs. Many times the women just need to know there is someone who cares, and be directed toward available resources. Prayer & Action!

  • I totaly agree that we shouldn't stay indifferent towards this big issue. Let's speak the truth but also help the pregnant in need or confusion.

  • I've never seen a child lose the ability to recognize their mother after birth. My godchild knew both his mother and father after birth and would cry whenever one of them left.

And you are right about the abandonment issue with adoption. My mom said was hard to raise for nearly 2 years because I missed my birth mother so much. But now I look back and thank her for what she did because I now know the woman who raised me.

And yes me being adopted is one of the reasons i'm pro life.

  • See the word consciousness, really important, as would be awareness. So tell me if an infant takes a few weeks to recognize mama's face and voice why does it loose that ability since it had such in the womb. Come on get honest.

Your logic would lead all to believe that in the womb that recognition would prevent adoption due to an understanding of abandonment.

  • Sentient: 1. having the power of perception by the senses; conscious.

    2. characterized by sensation and consciousness.

I've seen unborn babies at as early as 12 weeks exhibit signs of being sentient. Sucking their thumbs, which proves consciousness. Fealing pain, which shows their ability to perceive pain.

Need I go on? Or would you like to claim a 2year old is not sentient?

  • Really?? I've heard many a choice tard claim the unborn are nothing more than goo.

And as for viability. They need to have another look because abortion is technically legal all the way up to 1 minute before birth.

Abortions at 20 weeks are common, yet i've read stories of babies being born at a mere 20 weeks and living health lives.

  • The funny thing is that no one has ever said that the embryo isn't human, viable it isn't. The embryo turns into a fetus which turns into an infant at birth. Once more the fetus is not viable, nor is it sentient.

    Reading fundamental to you eh?

  • I know this is old. But deaths from abortion are at over 1 million a year in the U.S. alone. And yes the unborn are human beings as agreed upon by all Human Embryologists.

Look in any human embryology text book and they'll agree that a human being is created at the moment of fertilization.

For a start on Embryology google: When Do Human Beings Begin?

    "Scientific" Myths and Scientific Facts.

    So also Unbiased.

  • A personal analogy, abortion is similar in these ways, if you eat meat, then you are killing the animal, if you eat fruit, then you are ripping the fruit from it's mother, either a tree or vine. Would you consider this killing? Isn't it a violation as well to the piece of meat, fruit or vegetable eaten? This is the logic of the debate at hand. Which is generally used by pro lifers.

  • Now, if a person comes in and is influenced by a parent or a boyfriend to have an abortion, than that means this person is easily manipulated and persuaded, so telling her what you want her to do, just as the others, is still preying on an already confused individual who remains easily manipulated and persuaded. Keeping the victim a victim. Sugar coat it all you want, but I am old enough to see things for what they actually are.

  • See, that is what I mean, to determine independent choice, it cannot be accepted that someone outside of ourselves is determining that choice, for that right there is in the face pure and simple coercion, like it or not, this alone is is your admittance of it.

  • If you believe that, get those facts from others that stipulate this as an honest appraisal, of a woman's choice, not dogmatic will.
