cause for this malfunction is due to the balloon being in climb before exit, take a look at the wing, its already inflated, so already has a profile, it starts to fly with the energy of y the falling pilot, istead of then inflating.
When the jump is done with no air in the wing, say at 0.5m/s descent, there is no inflation taking place before exiting the basket, in this way, there is no brake required.
Also never drop your wing before the balloon stops ascending, as it will inflate.

Because the riser hit the "stop" button on the camera on the way down. There is foot-cam footage of the landing but no sound, and all you see is sky, then dirt. It was an uneventful landing in a field behind the house.

I think the pilot handled the mal. he got his reserve out, and did not lose consciousness from the spin. next time take a wrap.

Nah - I'm still waiting for the super duper Calvin deep brake setup. No wraps!! I don't want my hands any more tangled up than they were. I might need to use the Calvin 3-ring release.

Brakes: as much as I could without taking a wrap. The very low hook-ins of that harness limited the amount of brake I could put in... so I wasn't able to stop the surge. The glider immediately inverted, sending the entire right side lines over the top of the glider. Will be doing this again on the same glider with a new brake system that has very deep brakes to control the surge.
