Bands like Tool owe their being to bands like Voivod. The whole progressive metal style is great. I love Voivod and glad we have such cool bands from their style.

@cameranianhadlock You might like Shining (the Norwegian band, not the Swedish one, but they're also good). They're kind of a black metal/jazz combo.

ill never forget hanging out with Voivod at the BackRoom in 88.. great bunch of guys. WAY ahead of thier time. Most people didnt get them back then, and most wont. Very intellegent bunch of dudes.. although i didnt really like Angel Rat very much.
