Here is a Pandora prototype in action. No more bare PCB for this guy :)

Sorry for the focus issues at times. I held the system a bit too close to the camera. I don't own any video editing software so this is from camera straight to Youtube!

FDM material is very flexible and brittle so the case was a bit stiff for pressing buttons and a bit creaky when my fingers pressed against the battery door on the back. These problems are non-issues when it comes to final molded parts that paying customers will be shipped so no worries there.

Please remember that Pandora is not mean to compete with Nintendo and Sony for the handheld market. This device is designed to do what they don't want you to do with their systems. Pandora runs Linux and is open source so you can code absolutely anything you want without the fear that the next firmware update will lock you out! The hardware is also more powerful than the current generation of commercial handhelds available and so your canvas to freely work on is bigger and brighter! :)

See openpandora.org and openpandora.ca for more details.

  • why is everyone whining i would totally pay 330 for it. its the most powerful handheld gaming pc in existence and i would rather have this than a laptop cause this can just go in your pocket when you are done

  • gahh READ THE FUCKING DESCRIPTION. IT'S PANDORA, the game console??! It's not a playstation portable, nor a nintendo dualscreen.

  • the psp2 is going to preform better have better battery life be cheaper look nicer in graphics and hardware mite as well get the psp2

  • @HardKore5250

    Matte black.

  • @phadedlife why am I? what i've said is true

  • @EaRenDeL Id rather it not be. Tired of all this flimsy crap everyone comes out with that I can break by dropping it 2 feet.

  • @Exesta You're either a complete fucking retard, or a terrible troll.

  • @Exesta Because there is a massive homebrew community coming from the GP2X / Wiz and Dingoo communities, not to mention all the devs for ARM based Linux distros that are on most phones these days.

Who cares that yo can't get a crappy big publisher title like Madden 2011, this does every console up to the PS1, it'll do any game for the GBA, N64 and PSP support are in development. It can also run pretty much any linux software, as well as most old OSs like Amiga, Apple and Atari Computer systems,

  • @liberty211662 It was already out when you asked, the first 4000 have started shipping, the parts are already on order for the 2nd 4000. Since most of the parts used in the Pandora are Cellphone parts there is a long lead time for their delivery as companies bump back small orders for the massive orders from companies like Nokia, Samsung, Apple, Palm, etc...

  • @ChayDX most power? it looks less capable then a netbook, and even if it is more powerful then a DS or PSP, theres no developer support for modern games.

  • whats the point in a pandora? serious question?

  • When is this coming out.
